Artist’s Bio

Hello! My name is Jasmin and I am an artist based in Hobart, Tasmania. I work primarily in acrylics and love to create vibrant paintings of the beautiful locations close to my heart. I also have an interest in portraiture and the art of reflecting a person’s character in the painted form.

There is a strong focus on light and colour in my paintings; I aim to represent my subject matter realistically, while enhancing it in ways that reflect my perception of it. I am experimenting and learning all the time, and I am very excited to see where my inspiration leads me!

In 2016, at the age of fourteen, I received the Sponsor’s Choice Award at the RACT Tasmanian Portraiture Prize with a coloured pencil portrait of my great grandmother. In 2019 I was a finalist again with my portrait, Poppy. And in both 2021 and 2022 I was selected as a finalist in the Henry Jones Art Prize for my paintings, West Hobart and Reflections on the Hobart Waterfront.
